August Teen Tuesdays: The "Quirky Birdhouse" Design Lab

Forget the standard birdhouse. In this 3-session 'Design Lab,' teens will step into the shoes of a professional furniture designer to create a one-of-a-kind, quirky birdhouse from scratch. 

The Roadmap:

• Session 1: Shop Safety & The Blueprint. We hit the ground running with professional workshop safety and tool orientation. Then, we move straight to the drafting table to sketch your 'quirky' design and calculate the angles needed to bring it to life.

• Session 2: The Build. This is a high-energy session where the sawdust flies. You’ll work through measuring, marking, and cutting your components, focusing on precision and the unique characteristics of high-quality hardwoods.

• Session 3: Assembly & The 'Maker’s Mark.' In our final hour, we move into structural assembly and finishing. You’ll learn how to use professional-grade adhesives and apply a weather-resistant finish before branding your piece with the studio logo.
