Intro to Woodworking & Shop Safety

Every great build starts with a solid foundation. Whether you’re looking to join our multi-week series, pick up a Shop Pass, or finally start that DIY project at home, this is where you begin.

Our Intro to Woodworking is a high-energy, hands-on 60-minute session designed to take the 'mystery' out of the woodshop. Hosted at the Grain Aesthetics studio, you’ll move beyond the DIY videos and get your hands on professional tools in a safe, supportive environment.

What We’ll Cover:

• The Woodworker’s Mindset: Understanding shop safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and how to respect the tools.

• The 'Big Three' Skills: We’ll walk through the fundamentals of Measuring, Marking, and Squaring—the three skills that separate 'good enough' from professional quality.

• Tool Orientation: Get comfortable with the staples of the studio, including handsaws, manual drills, and the proper use of clamps and adhesives.

Completion of this course grants you your 'Studio Safety Clear' status, making you eligible for our advanced workshops and independent Shop Pass hours.
